So many paths to know impressive cascades, to admire surprising landscapes, to look at birds of attractiveness colors, plants in endless ways and sizes; and, to discover the spectacular nature of the Quijos valley.

 

Route of the waterfalls

 

The Quijos valley has the privilege of possessing the most numerous collection in spectacular waterfalls of the Ecuador. 

From La Campiña del Quijos:

For the route toward the East, traveling 35 kilometers of beautiful tropical landscapes.Small walk until the fall río Malo (bad river).

Continuing 25 kilometers through the green blued valley of the Salado river until the foot of the Reventador volcano. Walk of two kiloleters for a wild path until a natural monument that makes exploit emotions: San Rafael.

San Rafael waterfall:
The jump with bigger height and volume of water of the Ecuador: 160 meters and 400 thousand liters per second, the jewel of the crown. 

Río Malo waterfall:
Water jump of 50 meters high, surrounded of a beautiful natural environment. Variety of native birds and butterflies.
 

 
  Trekking
● These don't demand effort; neither it offers bigger risks.

● Capable for children and old adults.

● These demand a couple of hours of recreational walk.

● Specialized equipment is not required

● It is not necessary the accompaniment of a guide

● It is necessary a respectful attitude toward the nature.

Ecological path of the two waterfalls of Baeza Path to LosTayos cavern
To 7 kilometers of our facilities. It has a longitude of 2,5 kilometers.

It crosses a primary forest that separates to Baeza city and the river Quijos river.

It allows to look at two beautiful water falls of the Machángara river and the municipal agricultural farm where guard several species of native fauna.



 

In the community Las Palmas, to 25 kilometers from "La Campiña" Walking by a path during 30 minutes until the union of the rivers Cacapishco and Las Palmas. 

Here it is an enormous cavern that has 30 meters high and 50 of depth approximately.

Here is the habitat of the "tayos". These blind birds fly by means of echo localization. In summer the visitors can swim in the river.

  Birds watching
  The Quijos valley is a very popular destination for who, for hobby or scientific investigation, they like to observe the immense variety of exotic birds that inhabit the ecosystem of cloudy forests.
The frequented areas are the mountain range of Guacamayos (Macaws) and the head of the Cosanga river, both at a hour of trip from the hostel; but many more exist.

Shorter journeys can be carried out to the mountains that skirt  our facilities, to few minutes of walk.
